Charles Ellis, Head Boxing Coach
Coach Charles was a professional boxer in the Heavyweight division, known in the ring as “King” Charles. As an amateur, he became a 4x Golden Gloves Champion, the 2000 ABC National Champion, the 2002 Ringside Worldwide Champion, and the 2003 National Golden Glove Champion. He was also a member of the USA Boxing International Team, traveling to many countries to represent the United States. As a professional, he was recognized for his athleticism and knockout power. He became the California Heavyweight Champion and ended his career with a fight against James Toney, winning a 10-round unanimous decision in August 2015. Despite tearing his rotator cuff and breaking his ball and socket joint in the 3rd round, he fought through the injury and finished the fight, securing the win.
